Confide

Terms of Service

Last updated: February 16, 2026

1. Acceptance

By creating an account or using Confide, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. The Service

Confide provides end-to-end encrypted group messaging, voice communication, and file sharing. All message content is encrypted on your device before transmission. We cannot access, moderate, or recover your encrypted content.

3. Your Account

  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • If you lose your encryption keys, we cannot recover your messages. There is no backdoor.

4. Prohibited Use

You may not use Confide to:

  • Distribute malware or conduct attacks against the service or its users.
  • Impersonate Confide staff or other users with intent to deceive.
  • Abuse the service infrastructure (automated mass account creation, spam, denial-of-service).
  • Violate applicable law in your jurisdiction.

Due to end-to-end encryption, we cannot monitor message content. Enforcement of these terms is limited to actions observable at the infrastructure level.

5. Encryption & Content

Confide uses post-quantum end-to-end encryption. This means:

  • We cannot read, scan, or analyze your messages.
  • We cannot comply with content-specific takedown requests because we do not have access to content.
  • You are solely responsible for the content you send.

6. Self-Hosting

You may self-host a Confide server instance. Self-hosted instances are operated independently and are not covered by these terms. The operator of a self-hosted instance is responsible for their own compliance with applicable law.

7. Availability

We aim to keep Confide available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Confide shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. This does not affect your statutory rights under EU consumer protection law.

9. Account Termination

You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. Upon termination, your personal data is deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the European Union and the applicable national law of the data controller's place of establishment. Any disputes shall be resolved in the competent courts of that jurisdiction. Your statutory consumer rights under the law of your country of residence remain unaffected.

11. Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be communicated via the application or email at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
